Information on Canadian Pardons

In a nutshell, you would have a criminal record if and when you have been found guilty in Canada of any criminal offense. Unless the court grants you a discharge, your criminal record will not be sealed automatically. This would make it necessary for you to apply for a pardon so that criminal record can be sealed. There are many employers, including most of Canada’s largest companies that now conduct criminal background checks on their employees, so it would be in anybody’s best interests to get a pardon to qualify for more work-related opportunities.

While it is your option to apply for a pardon in Canada on your own, we do not recommend this. There are two primary reasons, first being the fact there are fees involved, and second being the possibility of waiting a good two years should the Parole Board of Canada turn down your application due to mistakes they may find in your pardon application. Canada Pardons offers pardon application services that can help you in avoiding these potentially costly mistakes. With Canada Pardons you can be confident that your pardon application is complete and accurate before the Parole Board of Canada reviews that application for approval.

There are a few things Canada Pardons needs to do before submitting your pardon application to the Parole Board of Canada, starting with collecting several required government documents. It may take anywhere from six to nine months for this paperwork to be collected. Once our office has collected these documents, your pardon application can be completed and sent to the Parole Board of Canada so that they can review your application for approval. The entire pardon application process usually takes about one year to a year and a half – this starts from the time you begin the process to the time the Parole Board of Canada decides whether to grant the pardon or not.
